shoulda, coulda, woulda. you always say you'd like to try something new and adventurous, and now that the new year's struck it may just be time to actually do something. here are some ideas that may just help push your adrenaline to its limits:
hint: think james bond in the swiss alps.
idea: helisking. it's the new black. we found an uber-cool resort in british columbia that specializes in transporting their guests to the tops of mountains via helicopter (not chairlift). www.wiegele.com
hint: fly like an eagle.
idea: gliding. pierce brosnan and rene russo made it look so sexy and fun in the thomas crown affair. actually, gliding is said to be one of the most peaceful experiences while you're soaring. 45 minutes with a pilot and glide ($159) and you may just beg for more. www.soaringsports.com
hint: 10,000 feet.
idea: sky dive. if you need a new perspective on life, then mark this down in ink and don't look back. there's a jump site close to the city in long island where you can jump in tandem, equipped with a pro on your back. all you have to do is take in the view of the hamptons and new york (and not pass out). www.longislandskydiving.com
hint: let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
idea: snowmobiling is for those who would rather stay grounded. the go-in-the-snow-fast-mobiles are a blast - literally. rent a single or go duo ($120 - $140), and ride through the woods and across farmland in the adirondacks. www.adirondacks.com
hint: wear your winter helmet.
idea: toboggan. imagine yourself hauling down an ice-covered chute that eventually spits you out onto a huge frozen lake, and you'll keep shooting across the middle of lake, and you can't stop laughing. when it's all over, you'll grab the string, turn around and climb to the top for another go (and this will be your third time). www.neparkdistrict.com
hint: billy crystal in the mid-west.
idea: horseback riding just seems right when it's cold outside. for the perfect ride, put on your winter boots, your fourth to favorite jeans, a cozy sweater, gloves, and top with a hat. saddled up for western and english, lessons and rides. www.nycgovparks.org
