san francisco | sweet and sour.contributed by laura norkin
when life hands you lemons, make lemonade, right? that's gotta be what san diego-based design duo laura hall and gillian mahin had in mind when they thought up the soon to launch fall line for their collection for love and lemons.
the bondage-meets-babydoll line hearkens to a darker side of socal, think film noir and the black-dress-red-lipstick days, rather than this season's ubiquitous brights and whites. get ready for black-and-white (just like those classic flicks) reimagined into risque mega-minis, leggings with seams up the back to mimic early fifties' glam, strappy dresses that border on straight-jacket chic and more boundary pushing pieces than we've got space to describe. the fresh-faced duo come from jackson hole, wyoming, but don't expect down home, midwestern sweetness to come through in their latest looks. it's all about hard-hitting sexiness, in up-to-date, sumptuous fabrics for when you need to add a little edge.
sugar and spice? try tart, instead. for love and lemons. fall
collection available in august. www.forloveandlemons.com
