sonia rykiel has been at the top of the paris fashion world for over four decades. so isn't it fitting that the musée des arts décoratifs is honoring her with the "sonia rykiel, exposition," the last event on her year-long celebration.

since opening her shop in may 1968 on the boulevard st. germain, the flame-haired rykiel has been making waves in the fashion world. just take a look at the designers toasting to her success: jean paul gaultier, martin margiela and olivier theyskens. and now the musée de decoratifs. smartly organized by her chic motifs (like lace, stripes, rhinestones and black collections), the show features everything from her signature striped knits to her marvelous marabou coats. (don't worry. her velour jogging suits make an appearance.) videos, a series of striking portraits by dominique isserman and a rare interview with the original king of pop andy warhol make up the other part.

remember sonia, 40 is the new 20. especially in fashion.
