Born in 1983, Mu Dae creates vibrant, detailed silk embroideries and prints that heavily feature floral and bird motifs.

The artist splits his time between Suzhou, China and London, where he first became known at the 2008 Young Icebreakers Art Exhibition. Dae combines poetry with his works to create personal pieces that are inspired by cultural traditions, family heritage, and even literary and pop culture figures such as William Blake and David Bowie. By dividing one silk thread into 32 parts, Dae can capitalize on the shimmering detailing that brings this ancient art into a modern forum. --Toni Kervina
