marriage fréres move over. there's a new set of brothers on the paris tea boutique scene with the recently opened dammann frères shop.
the new sip spot, located on the place des vosges, updates musty old tea emporiums with shelves of streamlined black and cinnabar canisters. the exotic east is the focus inside the tasteful tins, with teas from india, china, japan and ceylon. it may be hard to choose from 600 varieties, but go for the more daring ones: caramel toffee, pomme d'amour or passion flowers. how 'bout a pot of a gunpowder? if you think tea is just tea, you haven't experienced the brother dammann's "cristal" tea bag. slight and transparent, the bags allow for the best flavor and essence to steep out from each blend.
coffee addicts, watch out. the intoxicating perfume of the shop may turn you into a tea-totaller.
