forget the cloyingly picture perfect advertisements with matching cheesy names you're used to seeing for mass marketed perfume. enter a world of olfactive debauchery with etat libre d'orange.

with names like "putain de palaces" (hotel slut), "vierges et toreros" (virgins and bullfighters), "sécrétions magnifiques," "jasmin and cigarettes : gitanes, jasmin and heroin," and "don't get me wrong i don't swallow," these bottles would definitely not be on your granny's bureau.

top dog etienne de swardt brought on heavyweight noses antoine lie, nathalie feisthauer, antoine and shyamala maisondieu (who, between them, have created scents for hermés, cartier, calvin klein, versace, armani, burberry, paul smith, and ralph lauren). the troop has concocted deliciously naughty and life-inspired scents free from constraints and taboos. in a case of fragrance meets substance, each creation carries with it a story that is an experience in itself.

a visit to their boutique in the 3rd arrondisement is like a sigh (or whiff, if you will) of relief from the mundane perfumes plugged by starlets and models.
