tis the season to be outside and there's no better time to take note of some finally-the-sun-is-outdoor spots. from rooftops to sidewalks, get ready to toast to short sleeves and putting those winter coats into hibernation.

you've already heard of this new addition to steve hanson's belt. but what you didn't know is that the tri-level space also includes an outdoor café opening next month, where outsiders can sip on their signature meatpacking martini with proscuitto-stuffed olives. only open a week and already there’s an unmistakable buzz.

high bar
this old-school hotel sports a rooftop bar where a 27-year old humphrey bogart once wed. despite the fact that ian schrager has taken new ownership, the hotel will remain exactly the same - at least for now.

this is no ordinary hipster-haunted watering hole on top of the hotel 60 thompson. swell crowds come with visually stunning streaks of sky and excellent cocktails. but here’s the skinny: this glamorous retreat is limited to hotel guests and those lucky few who know someone who knows someone for snagging an invite or an elevator key.

ear inn
get your groove on at this west-village outdoor spot, knee deep in city-bar history. a place to suit every thirst, the crowd’s a mix of motorcyle riding, helmet holding ale drinkers, and fashionably-dressed femme fatales who come for the background music (think billie holiday meets lyle lovett). hearty potables are served on the sidewalk.

bivio
catch a good breeze of instant oomph, and a potent warm weather cocktail at bivio's new sidewalk cafe on the hudson street side. but plan an exit strategy by 7pm if you don’t plan on dining here too.

boathouse central park
when you can’t, for the life of you, remember why you didn’t start looking for that summer share, let the good times roll in this haven of tranquility. a destination in its own right, twizzle and twirl overlooking a 22-acre lake as rowboats and an occasional gondola lazily drift by in the outside bar. central park drive north

glass
under the heading of a huge, ultramodern alternative universe, this outdoor patio is at the corner of cool and everyone’s here. have a mojito practically anyway you’d like – but oh, the margarita with fresh watermelon!

pen-top bar & terrace
favorably positioned, the eyes have it atop the peninsula hotel. double-dip for bedazzling views and a hotspot crowd when ordering up.
