if one more store opens in the MPD you might just have to move to ohio. but in all fairness, you have to give credit when credit is due, and when it comes to 14th street's esthete, pay up.

walk too fast and you'll miss it. (hint: when you've hit washington you've gone too far.) just behind the small glass storefront is a cavernous clothing-filled closet you'd expect to belong to sofia coppola. but it actually was created by creative director and globetrotter christine lee (the very woman responsible for buying clothes for soho's atrium). now she's turned her eye to esthete, stocking it with a bevy of international names: brit resortwear by allegra hicks, netherland knits from humanoid, and l.a. based thomas wylde (remember that name).

the space is reminiscent of an ole' curiosity shop. millinery details (spools of thread) mix with found objects (a ballroom mirror, for example). but don't expect an old-time house account à la charles ingles.

the only credit you'll get is for being smart enough to shop there in the first place.
