no, it's not an illusion. but this bianca
ring ($150) from alexis bittar is all about
smoke and mirrors.
it's not like peering into alice's looking glass. this hand-carved and hand-painted
smoke grey lucite ring has a story of its own. the 39-year-old bittar started
making jewelry in 2001 from depression-era glass and sold them at a table in
new york's soho district. and he's come a long way. in a short time, alexis has
gone from corner hawker to designing burberry's first jewelry collection. this
lucite piece, adorned with a silver faceted stone, is testament to why we love
him. it's simple, eye catching and makes a statement all on its own.
smoke and mirrors? try, smoking hot.
