insane in the membrain.

program your brain to wake up or sleep? you bet. there's a new treatment in town called brain music therapy that can do just that.

get your E.R. slang book ready. dr. galina mindlin, a clinical professor at columbia university, has developed a quick treatment that finds and records brain waves associated with heart rate and muscle tension, and then translates them into musical compositions, one to calm and the other to energize. (think xanax or expresso.)

in a nutshell? she records your brain's activity when it's super-active, as well as when you're just catatonic, and can then create certain rhythm patterns to help jump start your brain wave pattern and set it on your desired direction. the whole thing takes about 20 minutes, and four weeks later your two new cds arrive.

well you know what we're thinking: if only she could program a soundtrack to make your cellulite disappear. (but that's another story.)
