the chow man cometh. jeffrey chodorow is at it again with his latest bites baby, china grill, opening thursday.
with the recent entrance of kobe club miami (adding to tuscan steak, social and blue door), chodorow's restaurant empire is on a mission to feed the hip and hungry in the sunshine state. everything is sized for sharing, though a chopstick fight might break out over the last spicy beef and scallion dumpling. crackling calamari is given some zing with lime miso dressing, and fusion classics like the sake marinated "drunken" chicken in ponzu sauce and lobster pancakes keep the menu firmly grounded in upscale asian territory. the interior mirrors glorious florida sunsets with reds, oranges and yellow tones; a central expo kitchen and illuminated resin tables and bars give the space a jetsons vibe. muscle your way through the armani-clad cads with expense accounts, and take advantage of the waterfront terrace for some salty city boat watching.
