you've had pom martinis, pom gelato and pom-infused duck. just when you thought you had enough pom, here comes the recently opened melograno. it's the italian word for, you got it, pomegranate.

chef alberto lazzarino (of piccolo and cheebo) ignores the swarms of tourists in front of melograno's walk of fame location and concentrates instead on the food. the lovingly-crafted northern italian fare pays tribute to, what else, the pomegranate. braised hare is doused in a pom reduction sauce, but pappardelle with lobster manages to escape the red juice. those with a sweet tooth will prob devour the pumpkin flan with caramel sauce. sommelier giuseppe cosu pours from an overwhelmingly italian list that highlights piemonte's coveted barolo and barbaresco wines. the interior is lush, with warm red tones and murano lamps. come spring, patio seating will be avail to you.

it's sure to be da pom.
