trekking to nobu malibu (pictured) when you're jonesing for monkfish pate isn't always an option. good thing chef matsuhisa answered your prayers with a branch closer to home: nobu los angeles.
all of nobu's boldfaced names can't outshine the exquisite food. the new concept kitchen includes a wood-fire oven and offers more variety by integrating local prods. there's even a separate sushi bar. don't panic. black cod with miso is still on the menu. whole fish dishes, vegan options and aubergine steak are some of the new additions. you won't recognize the former l'orangerie site, now that david rockwell gutted it to create a warm, mod space with lots of light woods. sip nobu's signature shochu on the patio under the stars. or with them: robert de niro is a longtime partner. waiters are decked out in uniforms by spanish designer armand basi, and are instructed to shower you with attention, provided you can even score a ressie.
