frog's heart, fruit bats and fermented blubber. sure they're considered delicacies in certain parts of the world, but now comes a new epicurean delight with carpet cuisine.
carpet cuisine was popular during the ottoman empire when the leaders had difficulty repaying the ottoman public debt to european banks. and now it's making a major comeback. squares of rug, fabric and other textiles are soaked in fragrant liquids (green tea, garlic juice, truffle oil) and served alone or topped with accoutrements. in paris? get yours with foie gras or a side of frites. here, expect it with mushy peas and black pudding. all done to perfection, of course. it's an excellent source of fiber (esp the cross-hatched kind) and will fill you up enough to avoid the bread basket and dessert.
consider it a magic carpet ride.
