good thing punk discos, delish diners and chic bowling halls will keep you busy (and indoors) this month. selfridges is also looking for a pair of mating unicorns. any suggestions?
world
class.
is it the eighth wonder of the fashion world? with a $20 million price tag, selfridges' just-launched wonder
room certainly comes close. the 19,000-square-foot space is designed
to showcase some of the world's most luxurious items, think super pricey chanel
watches and jewel-encrusted theo fennel jewelry. not unique enough? how 'bout
rare vinyls and fine wines from a self-serve wine 'jukebox'? 400 oxford street,

sake
to me.
the man that brought us chinese dining hits yauatcha and hakkasan is on the march
again. tipped to be a 'purist' venture for food aficionados, sake no
hana will open as a japanese-style izakaya restaurant early this month.
translation: informal dining, low tables and small shared plates similar to tapas.
the st. james venue also has leading japanese architect kengo kuma at the design
helm. so full steam ahead, ladies. this crew is hungry. opens mid-october.

starry
nights.
whether it is smelly rental shoes or harsh fluorescent lights illuminating plastic-backed
chairs, bowling has simply never been chic. new to bayswater, though, is all
star lanes. time to get your game on. find flirty cocktails, upmarket
munchies (lobster, anyone?) and leather sofas. but riddle me this, friends: how
many cocktails does it take to go from gutter ball girl to strike queen? whiteley's

sensory
bites.
it's elusive and we want it. texture resto and champagne bar
near marble arch has finally opened. icelandic chef agnar sverrisson and french-born
sommelier xavier rousset present a light menu of mod euro cuisine with colorful plates of slow cooked meats and 'just right'
veggie sides. and no need for one month's rent for the five-course
fish tasting menu with wine pairing. it's a bloody good time. 34 portman

get arty.
a good nightclub doesn't close at dawn. on tuesday nights, head to death
disco at the notting hill arts club. it's a mix of local indie artists with a surprise punk veteran or two (think courtney love) thrown in. this pick has more than just beats and shakes. daybreak reveals its alter-ego with creative
arts haven. this month, watch for a stark look at metro-wastelands from budding photographer neil montier. it's dark. it's desolate. it's
a fitting finale to death disco. through 29 november. notting hill
gate, W11. www.nottinghillartsclub.com
