march is the month to wine and dine like there's no april coming your way. find your pole position, have mercy and mums the word with this month's foodie picks:

have mercy.
it's not wall street, but it comes pretty close. the city has its very own incarnation of NYC's the mercer, just around the corner from liverpool street. black columns, white lights and a spacious monochrome interior are not far off from its sister site. but the menu is def more old world with english, french and spanish bites. now open. 34 threadneedle street, EC2R 8AY. bank tube. 020.7628.0001. www.themercer.co.uk

in the market.
camden's got a new kid on the block. chef dan spence has opened a cozy little place called market, serving up classic brit comfort food. the open kitchen and blasted brick walls are spot on with the no-frills dining trend. think chutneys, chickens and chunky stews. now open. 43 parkway, NW1 7PN. camden town tube. 020.7267.9700.

greek treat.
every kitchen needs a good bottle of classic olive oil. this month, snag a good one from maida vale's popular raoul's café and deli. owner geraldine leventis has decided to make the café's exclusive and silky organic oil avail for you to take home. the olives are grown on leventis' estate in greece, and pressed fresh by a team of peleponnese farmers. your salad will love you. 13 clifton road, W9 1SZ. maida vale tube. 020.7289.7313. www.raoulsgourmet.com

pole position.
east europe is on fire these days. introduce your taste buds to the flavours of londontown's rising neighbors at hammersmith's newest polish resto, the knaypa (pictured). owner monika milcarz has created a mixed menu of classic and unusual polish delights. in this sultry diner, golabki and goulash rule. now open. 268 king street, W6 0SP. hammersmith tube. 020.8563.2887. www.theknaypa.co.uk

status quo.
the boys of ace london restos fino and barrafina are at it again. sam and eddie hart have bought soho favourite quo vadis from marco pierre white and are set to reopen the landmark eatery later this month. expect a sleek restyle of the traditional look, but keep your taste buds guessing: the new menu is still under wraps. opening march. 26 - 29 dean street, W1V 6LL. tottenham court road tube. 020.7437.9585.

mums the word.
mother's day is on the way and it's a good time to shower all those special mummies with love and fine dining. the landmark has just the thing. their special M-day sunday brunch at the glass-roofed gazebo resto comes with all kinds of goodies, followed up with a day pass to the newly opened landmark spa. available in march. 222 marylebone road, NW1 6JQ. marylebone tube. 020.7631.8000. www.landmarklondon.co.uk
