  ghost inc. bar

as if south ken weren't swanky enough, this week is the much heralded opening of after-hours cocktail spot ghost, inc.

just a few steps below the oh-so-english gainsborough hotel, the basement door opens to a stand-alone bar with serious style. david serlui and sam king, the guys who established and managed celeb-spotting club aura back in 2001, are the brains behind the ghost brand (including the already popular northampton spot). and they've called in the big guns for this project. designer robbie clydesdale has teamed up with a host of local street artists to work out its decadent and cheeky interior. black leather booths and red velvet antique chairs fill the candlelit space. a massive 40s-style, pin-up girl mural spans the length of the bar. but just before you thought it was getting a little too cute, clydesdale has covered the rear wall in gray skull wallpaper and heavy silver mirrors. but this is a cocktail bar after all, and they've literally got the holy bible of drinks avail to you. expect 2,000 different mixes to take your fancy, from the classic and the strange to the surprisingly wonderful.

it's reason enough to ditch the west end and head south for the winter.
