west coast vs. east? no contest. but you know how your new york posse loves pastis (even under 2 feet of snow). so the barely opened sunset bistro, bowery, might just settle the score.

sure every new restaurant claims to be a little nueva york (case in point: neighbor magnolia). but owner george abou-daoud promises this one will be.
exhibit a: subway tiles, barstools from williamsburg (that's brooklyn), and a tin ceiling. exhibit b: chef david bonfiglio worked in soho. exhibit c: only 40 seats, so you can touch your neighbors thighs (we mean fries). exhibit d: no reservations.

the moules frites, coq au vin, and pernod seem to be headed in the right direction.

unlike your last cab experience in the meatpacking district.
