july 2004

tented.

there are certain milestones to keep in mind while in the hamptons: may puts a kibosh on off-season solitude, july fourth marks the end of beach parking sans a permit, come august many bolt for summering a la france, and somewhere in between you can expect bridgehampton polo.

muster up the determination to leave the beach this saturday by 3:30, wipe the sand from your feet, throw on something pretty, and you can make an a-line for the usual guest-list only mercedes-benz kickoff.

the giant white tent (smack in the middle of two trees stables) will host about 1000 eager, cocktail drinking guests, while another 400 tickets will be available to the public. and although most haven't clue - the event is actually philanthropic - with proceeds (the $20 parking fee) donated to the south fork breast health coalition.

other weekends will be hosted by sponsors equinox, and town and country, and of course, a slew of enthusiastic hamptonites proving that saturdays from july 17th thru august 21st are actually as monumental as let's say - driving out in under two hours.
