beach exit.

that's right, folks. summer is out the door. but what a good season it was. here's looking back on some of the summer's best:

wood stock.
need one? as in the utlimate ebonized wooden clutch with leather tassles ($790) from devi kroell. her new east hampton digs opened just behind london jewelers. nevermind that bergdorf's can't keep her oversized hobo bags in stock. (good to know come fall.) 2 main street. east hampton. 631.329.2700. www.devikroell.com

with the band.
as in original vintage 1920's headbands from out of the closet. sure, their old levi's and original chanel circa 1960 are closet staples. but they've got racks of early century headwear you won't find anyplace else. 2401 main street. bridgehampton. 631.537.2470.

these scoots weren't made for walking.
go even mini-er this summer with the re-released vespa PX150. this vintage scooter looks classic (like mastroianni would have wanted). but make no mistake, it's peppy, new, and limited. vespa southhampton. 625 county road. 631.287.6085. www.vespausa.com

gucci goes east.
you knew it was only a matter of time before gucci came to town. (east hampton, to be exact.) they took up shop where j.crew was last year. 46 main street. east hampton. 631.907.9290.

laundry listing.

like most twenty somethings, the laundry restaurant had to move to a new location after its landlord wouldn't renew its lease (sound familiar?). this EH staple reopened at a bigger spot (read: shorter waits) with some schmancy new extras: wood-burning oven and updated design. fortunately, the menu's the same (especially the sloppy ribs). because change is good for underwear, not tradition. 341 pantigo road. east hampton. 631.324.3199. www.thelaundry.com
