needing a little fix in the nightlife department? then get ready for the opening of slide. come september, this underground, prohibition-style speakeasy plans to reinvent the gin-soaked mobster scene of the early 1900s. so much so, that you'll even need a password to gain access.

why slide? to put it simply, you can ride the indoor slide down for a quicker trip to the lounge. now if you're asking if this is what mobsters really did, the answer is yes. the space is a nod (albeit mod) to its original, dan's café, where the push of a secret wall revealed a slide that whisked urban scoundrels into an underground lounge, rife with gamblers and bootleg booze. (now take a deep breath.) these days, the slide trick takes you down to a lounge with a marble bar and gutted baby grand-turned-DJ booth. and expect new-millenium cocktails, the names of which are still under lock and key.

you'll feel like you're right back in the organized crime era. but luckily the only shot you'll be taking is alcohol-related.
