if you were around new york in the early 90's, you'd be nostalgic if today someone mentioned the east 64th street lounge frederick's. well, the little basement-level hotspot that was once perched between madison and park is back - with a few changes of course.


for starters, the parisian frederick (is no longer dating frederique van der wahl - the victoria secret super model. and you won't find the new frederick's at the old locale. (it's moved just a few blocks near the plaza hotel.) under the new lesort brothers regime (remember either of them at lemon, buddha bar, bilboquet, le cherlot, and vandam), you can become a member just like you might at the soho house. there are only 250 founding members included in the first offering, all of whom require fingerprint scanning to access the private members room.

non-members are welcome to eat in the main dining room of course, which doesn't seem too bad with chef vincent chirico's pan asian inspired menu. (he's been seasoned at a three-star michelin rated restaurant in france, and was polished under daniel boulud in new york.) sushi, sashimi, and satay type treats are the mainstay.

it's a bit reminiscent of the old restaurant match - if you remember that.
