forget the borrowed. forget the blue. all we really want in '08 is something bright, shiny and new:
trotter time.
we jumped for joy after chicago chef legend charlie trotter announced plans to open a new resto in late 2008 at the elysian. the name's still not disclosed, but this spot's sure to be a hit. after all, it's trotter's first fining dining resto since 1987. diners will see more of the same inventive cuisine at this dinner-only spot. 11

shopper approved this year. just like the days of yore, sales will take place monthly on weekends in the west loop neighborhood and feature hot designer finds, as well as duds by eskell and chicago designer lara miller. starts

perennially good.
since bar louie left, we've been wondering what's up with the empty space. word is park
view hotel will open its doors within the next couple of months. as if that weren't enough to get us headed to clark street, new resto and bar perennial is sure to be our go-to spot, thanks to boka and landmark powerhouse rob katz and kevin boehm. the outdoor patio spanning lincoln avenue promises to draw foodies and the fashionable for exec giuseppe tentori's inventive dishes. 1816

the fifth dimension.
wilco fans rejoice. the chicago-based band will rock the riviera theatre for five nights in february when they'll play some old faves. the goal is to get through their entire run of songs with a new set each night. score some tix to see if they can accomplish this mission. from
february 15 to 20. riviera theatre. 4746 north racine avenue. at north broadway.

top dog.
top chef viewer fave dale levitsky might have gotten the cut, but he comes out strong in '08 with his new (and first) resto town & country. levitsky has done time at blackbird, trio and orange, so expect approachable but creative food when the spot opens in the spring.
