the UK-based luxury chocolatier recently opened its first store stateside on newbury street. designed by terry moore, the sleek 1,200-square-foot space is a veritable haven for sweet-toothed bostonians, and is the only location worldwide to have a chocolate tasting room for private parties. concierge greet guests with samples of milk and dark chocolate bars so they can get your sugar fix at the door. offerings like one-pound chocolate slabs ($35) and delicate champagne truffles ($35) will make jaws drops and tongues wag with their elegant design and sheer size. and forget excess sugar and artificial fillers; hotel chocolat products distinguish themselves from store-brand goods with extraordinarily high cocoa content. the company boasts their own plantation in st. lucia ensuring that consumers get high-quality goodies made not only with fine ingreds, but also with a conscience.
