when it comes to pampering our four-legged friends, spending a little extra is hardly shameful. enter pawsh dog boutique, a one-stop shop for the hippest of hounds.
owners mike and nancy maida scope out new york pet fashion week and scrounge through handicraft sites to bring the most coveted goodies to back bay pooches. just pawsteps away from newbury street, the boutique carries prods like bowhausnyc collapsible doggie bowls and john paul pet shampoo (from the paul mitchell petcare line). while the upstairs is stocked with treats, carriers and toys, downstairs is home to staples, such as dog food and wipes. the store, which took over the former location of handmade clothing boutique oak, has taken a few hints from the prior tenant. in between puppia harnesses are indie finds like lucky fiona dog collars. and the husband-and-wife team recently expanded their doghouse to a second story, introducing grooming services and pet psychic readings.
here, it's all bark and plenty of bite. pawsh dog boutique. 31 gloucester street. at newbury. 617. 297.2045. www.pawshboston.com
