think you're looking into a scene from alice's looking glass? blink again. it's really the table stories charger plate ($38) from netherlands-born tord boontje.

boontje is no stranger to making a scene. his light and glass works are exhibited at new york's MOMA and at the V&A museum in london. good thing, he also makes beautiful tableware for us to enjoy at home. these sturdy porcelain plates display one of four scenes of animals intertwining with plants. a bird flies with palm frond feathers. a deer grows flower antlers. look closer and you can find your own fantasy. boontje even likes to add hidden elements to each scene. can you find the mouse on your plate? a true tableware where's waldo. but so much cooler. choose from red or blue patterns for plates, bowls, cups and saucers.
