atlanta | get a room.
contributed by nancy staab
kimpton boutique hotels have always combined playfulness (the "guppy love" loaner goldfish program) and panache (think zippy zebra-print robes). and their hotel palomar, atlanta, open may 14th, is no exception.
this sleek midtown enclave is loaded with local artwork, including a major todd murphy piece, in a stylized living room lobby replete with a floating 422-gallon saltwater aquarium and dramatic, back-lit onyx ceiling and walls. head to the rooftop's open-air terrace lounge, alto rex, for cosmos and small plates amid sexy cabanas and fire pits. or cocoon in the posh rooms, with fuji soaking tubs and 37-inch LCD flat screens, and order up in-room spa treatments. even pets get VIP (very important pet) pampering. refuel with sumptuous italian dishes from the hotel's pacci ristorante, helmed by native GA chef keira moritz. don't miss her house-made ravioli with spicy lobster sauce or bisteca fiorentina.
consider it milan-chic, in the heart of midtown. the hotel palomar, atlanta. 866 west peachtree street. near abercrombie NE. 866.945.6285. opens may 14th.
