Danish designer Hans Wegner concepted this cozy seat while enjoying a beach vacation in 1950. It was his body's imprint in the sand that inspired him to design a chair that could re-create such an ergonomically comfy recline. The result? A seat entirely strung with flag-flying cord (that it takes a craftsman an entire day to wrap). Oh, and a leather, down-filled pillow, of course.  Three generations later, the brand PP Møbler continues making the chairs that keep people as at ease as that now-famous day at the beach. -Laura Norkin
