When owners, Cathy Chung and Katerina Herodotou acquired Meeps in 2011, two things were in order, a nip and a tuck. The Adams Morgan staple best known for outfitting District residents with quirky vintage garments was shut down for a mega overhaul and has since reemerged, boasting a shiny new facade and sleek interior. Walls that were once turquoise have been whitewashed with a sparkling coat of milky paint and the rows of clothing racks that stood in the store's center have been replaced with minimalisti geometric frames. Wooden shelves and boxes store handbags and shoes and vintage baubles and sunglasses are sprinkled throughout the shop in wooden serving trays. Expect to see duds from the 1960s and on as well as locally designed clothing and accessory lines. If you're feeling like a little swap and shop, Meeps is now offering a buy-sell-trade option for the fashionable folks in the District. Photos Courtesy of Marshall Jones
