You’ve been noshing on Cali Rolls since day one. You are a native after all. But it’s time to sink your teeth into something a little more sophisticated. It’s called Yojisan Sushi. Roll with it.

Two pretty well-known food gurus teamed up to deliver some mod Japanese eats to downtown Bev Hills scene. These gurus are none other than Giacomino Drago (you know him from spots like Il Pastaio) and Yoji Tajima (gifted hands of SHU Sushi House Unico). The guys know food, but hired famed architect Dan Brunn to create the space itself--and it looks almost too good to be true. Marvel over the marriage of real and the surreal. Dan has outfitted the quaint space with bold accents like oversized inverted red boxes overhead (a hint at the bento), floating gardens, commanding light on the walls that emulates bamboo and simple dark wood furnishings set atop finished concrete floors. That was a mouthful. But now for palate pleasers. Get excited at the thought of starting with Clam Soup, Crispy Risotto with Spicy Tuna Tartare and sliced Jalapeno and a Salmon Skin Salad. Move on to the mains and experience more non-tradish bites like tacos. Yes, tacos. Spicy Tuna Tacos, Miso Black Cod Tacos and Kobe Beef Tacos. Want to stay with the norm? Opt for Red Snapper Sashimi or Lobster Escabeche or a long list of impressive rolls (Cali Roll with Dynamite Scallop, anyone). Finish it off with a Green Tea Pudding and a few rounds of Nigori sake.
