Slated for an end-of-year opening, the new Uchi outpost in Houston is taking over the old Felix Mexican restaurant. Acclaimed chef Tyler Cole's third location of the Austin-based operation is being designed by Michael Hsu Architects. The exterior will include the brand's sig archway, covered with perforated metal, which is designed to rust, offering a modern-yet-organic vibe. The 160-seat interior will feature red Chinoiserie wallpaper and other touches by Austin-based designer Joel Mozersky (One Eleven Design). The sushi bar is made from rough-hewn walnut and accented with Calcutta gold, honed marble and topped with bronze. The organic theme will also be featured throughout, including reclaimed wood floors and tiles. Menu offerings are said to include hot and cool tastings, including makimono, yakimono, tempure, and sushi. --Toni Kervina
