While you'll have to wait a little bit longer to have a full-fledge dinner at chef Ryan Poli's highly anticipated Tavernita (limited resos are now being accepted), you can get a taste at Barcito, the casual — as in stand-and-eat — pinxtos bar now open within the restaurant's three unique and lively spaces.
Based on Poli's recent adventures abroad, the pinxtos bar pays homage to socializing, culture and cuisine — the Spanish way of life. A culinary trip to San Sebastián, Spain, the menu consists of Pintxos — or bar snacks — such as Iberico lardo and shrimp brochettes; Pica Pica (small bites) like Spanish white anchovies and frites bravas; and Tablas, a selection of cheeses and meats presented on boards. It wouldn't be a party atmosphere without festive libations to match. The celebrated Tippling Bros. are behind the beverage program consisting of spot on creations such as house-made vermouth (a Spanish tradition), culinary cocktails (their specialty), small-production wines, and the ever popular sangria (red and white) which is kegged on-site.
Housed in the massive stretch of real estate that was previously home to Martini Park, the barcito at Tavernita is equipped with 92 seats (for those who prefer sitting to standing) around a marble-top square bar. For visual appeal — rather, temptation — a glass pintxo display helps make decision making just a little bit easier. We'll take one of each please. - Rebecca Taras
