Renowned chef Art Smith has an impressive resume of culinary achievements (ahem, 10+ years cooking for Oprah), but our favorite is probably going to be this spot. A true boon to Atlanta’s already notable dining scene, the Southern Art serves elegant low country fare that will remind you exactly what you love about this region.
Recognized by many for his appearances on Top Chef and Top Chef Masters, and as a Contributing Editor at Oprah's magazin, O, chef Art Smith is the creative genius behind the dining desto. The restaurant boasts a welcoming vibe with a distinctive character all its own: a vibrant collection of art is suspended from the ceiling, along with brightly colored Venetian glass chandeliers. And lest the floor seem overlooked, sections of the restaurant are literally carpeted with Smith's family recipes. As for the eats, expect an artisanal ham bar–a shrine to meat–with ham hocks suspended from the ceiling over a huge case of various porcine indulgences. If you’re more of a sweets fan, don’t worry, the dessert display features southern favorites such as red velvet cake, blueberry cobbler and peach pie. -Emily L. Foley
