After a day of wine tastings, soak up those tannins with a meal at French Blue. The all day café/resto from Press owner Leslie Rudd, architect Howard Backen, and Teatro ZinZanni partner Stanley Morris was named after the blue doors of the former tenant, Vanderbilt's home furnishing store. The resto, whose wine country-inspired interior design was created by Howard's wife, Lori, comprises an open kitchen with wood-burning oven and grill, communal table, private dining room, patio, and two fireplaces. The kitchen is helmed by chef Philip Wang (Carneros Inn). The menu comprises rustic, seasonal dishes sourced from nearby Rudd Farm and Orchards, along with baked goods from Noe Valley Bakery’s Michael Gassen. Most everything else is made in-house, from the charcuterie to the honey and jams. And of course you can expect a robust selection of Northern Cali wines, plus handcrafted cocktails and local craft beers. There's also a retail space where you can scoop up artisanal prods if you want to take your meal on the go and escape into a nearby vineyard.
