A renovated cottage nestled on Westheimer was transformed into this exquisite restaurant. Those who don’t know otherwise could mistake it for a bed and breakfast. Da Marco, which means “Marco’s Place”, has received national and local accolades It’s often referred to as “one of the best restaurants in Houston” which is a bold statement in a fierce market of notable Italian restaurants.
But Chef Marco Wiles’ eatery didn’t fail to impress with its rustic décor and Mediterranean tunes. The self-taught chef attained his culinary craft by spending summers in Udine, Italy with his aunt in the kitchen. Wiles is a perfectionist, so the freshest ingredients are often flown in from the motherland. The interior decor with true Italian flair and romantic candle lit ambience will have you beckoning for a bottle of vino. The sweet corn ravioli with lobster comes in appetizer or entrée size depending on one’s appetite and the Texas quail with vignole is heaven on a dish. This top-notch trattoria would have Mario and Giada saying Andiamo. -Larina Chen
