The mastermind behind everything from Studio 54 to NYC’s Gramercy Park Hotel is at it again. Ian Schrager has landed in Chicago with PUBLIC, the first in a series of new boutique hotels. Expect a similar aesthetic to other Schrager properties (Miami’s Mondrian, Shore Club and the Delano) at a fraction of the price (preview rates start at $135). The former Ambassador East Hotel now includes sleek, “no color” guest rooms with subway-tiled bathrooms, cuisine by Jean-Georges, and minimalist décor throughout.
