More about The Hotel Americano :
There’s a shiny, new crash-pad in West Chelsea. The Hotel Americano is now open and is the first North American venture for part owners of fabled Mexican conglomerate, Grupo Habita.
About that duo: Carlos Couturier used to run a citrus farm in Veracruz, Mexico, and Moises Micha was an NYC investment banker for 15 years before finding his home in hospitality. They may not be upstarts anymore (Grupo's first hotel opened a decade ago in Mexico City), but their industrious ways surely lent a hand when branching out to the big city's competitive hotel game. The building itself was conceptualized by Mies Van der Rohe-award winner, Enrique Norten, and renowned Parisian architect Arnaud Montigny crafted the interior design. Highlights include two luxe bars, "El Privado" and "Bar Americano," a French-Latin eatery orchestrated by former Daniel chef, Olivier Reginensi, and a rooftop pool (yes, locals, you can call to reserve a spot in the sun) with an accompanying bar and skyline views. The rooms have an austere yet appealing Ryokan vibe softened with natural materials, soaking tubs, and cozy fireplaces. You’ll also find signature Sharps bath prods and precision-plated, bento box room service. With a prime, Highline and gallery-adjacent locale, it seems these South-of-the-border vets and their Hotel Americano have entered the downtown playing field.
