You can always go out to eat. But how often can you eat a gourmet meal at home? A lot more often if you stop by Gastronomie 491 first. Nicole Ahronee, a former fashion industry exec, created the specialty food market and sit down cafe with home cooks in mind. Artisanal products, local and organic produce, fresh baked goods, cheese and charcuterie, and Medi inspired prepared foods by Exec Chef Steven Gutterman (Eatery, Hudson Hotel, Oceana) are all on offer at the 2,000 square foot space that looks as good as it smells. Dark hardwood floors and exposed brick give it a homey feel and a six person counter makes it easy to have a quick meal before bringing the goods home.
